Dr. NO - a book review

Dr. NO by Ian Fleming is a wonderful book to read. James Bond and Ian Fleming, the man who created this amazing character need no introduction.

I am a fan of James Bond and Ian Fleming. I have with me the whole collection of his books as well as the movies. Seen all of them in the cinemas over the years. Watch them whenever I feel like even now.

James Bond is sent to Jamaica to investigate the killings of a British spy and his secretary. He encounters a reclusive Dr. Julius No who lives in a nearby secluded Crab key island, who was responsible for the killings. Finally after many twists, turns and suspense James Bond finally destroys the island and Dr. No gets killed.

Originally written as a screenplay and named as 'The Wound man' this story was adapted for the first movie titled Dr. No in 1962. Starring Sean Connery as James Bond, Ursula Andress as Honey rider, Joseph Wiseman as Dr. No and Bernard Lee as "M", the film became a huge hit.

Great book!

Liked this post? Well..., I have one more interesting blog, click here to check the latest updates there too ðŸ˜Š

I'm ashamed to say I've never read any of Ian Fleming's books. :( I think I may have seen one James Bond movie.

So of all the books, I should probably read Dr No first?

Nothing to be ashamed of, Michelle ! There are a lot of people who haven't read any of his books. But as you said they have seen his movies. Some say, it is little boring to read his books but the movies are excellent. I like both ! He is an awesome writer.

My suggestion to you, 'From Russia with love,' try to read it first ! Will write a review about it asap !

No doubt, the movies, books and his famous character have influenced a generation and probably will continue entertaining coming generations too. All over the world people of all walks of life have heard about James Bond, his famous character.

The DVD's have a short video about how the movie is made by the franchise. It gives lot of insight into the pains they all have taken to film the famous scenes. Great !

I haven’t read the books by Ian Fleming but have seen some films of James Bond series. In general, characters shine more in original books than in films. I wonder how it is regarding Mr. Bond.

Thank you for your visit to my past post. Your kind comment is really appreciated.

Hello, thanks a lot !

James Bond films are far more popular than Ian fleming's books about him. Those who haven't read any of his books might have watched at least one of his movies. So there is a general opinion that movies are much more interesting than his books. I like his books as well as the movies.

Your blog is cool !

I've only watched a few of the Bond movies actually. Probably should jump into the Bond lore a bit more.

I love espionage so I can't believe that I've never read any of Ian Fleming's books. After this review I think I will finally do that :)

I read Dr. No (and saw the movie) years ago. I'm still a James Bond fan, but I still think Sean Connery has been the best film Bond.

I also like Sean Connery. He has very successfully initiated the very first on screen portrayal of James Bond.

Thanks a lot George for this comment.

My hubby loves this sort of books, but not me; I prefer it in the movies. For reading, I prefer romance & Dan Brown books :)

Hi Rajiv, I love James Bond movies but didn't read any of the books. I prefer to read romance... I'd read The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough 3 times. :) I like Anna Karenina, Women of substance and had quite a number of Virginal Andrews's book in my collection.

Best regards.

Ohh, great ! Amelia, you are awesome !

Try to read the books too; you will know the plots better.

Romantic books are real fun yo read, I also agree. Being a person who is basically humorous I thought you would like to read humorous books, jokes etc. more than other genres.

Anyhow, I will post reviews of some Romance books also in the near future.
