Shopping malls in Bangalore, South India

Last month I visited Bangalore. Bangalore, an IT hub is a metro city in South India. It is in the State of Karnataka.

Mantri square mall is another mall we visited. It is also awesome! So many outlets, both Indian and international. Walked and walked, became tired.

We enjoyed a joyride in the metro that started operating recently. Metro in Bangalore is named as 'Namma metro', meaning our own metro. It was a comfortable journey. All neat and clean, magnificent! We boarded the train from the MG Road station and traveled up to Baiyyappanahalli and back. Thumbs up! Excellent.

Next is the Orion mall! This too is wonderful. Seen Debenhams, Pepe, Wrangler, PVR Cinemas etc.etc. Adjacent to this mall and World trade center there is lakeside promenade residential apartments. Beautiful!

UB City is a very famous place in Bangalore, in South India. It is an upscale joint development venture of the UB Group and Prestige Group. This project has developed into a city within the City with very tall buildings and towers where Yahoo, Apple hold their Offices. The mall is located at the lower levels and is very spacious having outlets of Jimmy Choo, Rolex, Burberry etc.  A wonderful spa is also there.

The food court has multi-cuisine restaurants. We enjoyed Subway rolls! Yummy!

I especially love that last picture with the two trees overlooking the water...so pretty.

So familiar, seeing that Subway wrapper in such a faraway place as India! LOL

Great post as always, thank you for sharing and educating us!

We also liked the lakeside and promenade a lot. Beautiful ! Nice place to buy an apartment, it is close to Orion mall and almost all other facilities are within reach.

Most of the international brands have their presence in India, mainly in the metro cities. I have already blogged about Lulu mall in Kochi, Kerala which is in South India where there is Mac and KFC. Please check this post http://magicalpresent.blogspot.in/2013/04/real-life-example-of-success-lulu-mall.html

In Kochi, in Kerala there is Subway outlet as well.

I have seen only a fraction of India and written much less. India as you know, is a very large country with so many things to see and experience !

I blog for fun, just started writing the blogs after a very long time of procrastination and found many good people like you reading regularly the posts. Motivated by the support of you people I am writing about things that I think will be interesting to others.

Thanks a lot for the beautiful comment. Btw, what about the story you thought of writing ? :)

As nice as it is, it's not like I have any spare money lying around to spend.

Metro fare is very reasonable. It is not at all expensive. It is actually common man's means of conveyance.

Malls in India are all doing well, the reason is affordability. Most of the supermarkets in malls are selling items below MRP, ie maximum retail price. We actually spend less money by shopping here. Moreover, many items on offer, discount vouchers, better selections, many things under one roof, entertainment options etc., so they attract a lot of people. India is still a developing country, people are price conscious. People from lower income group to the billionnaire club visit malls here. No entry fee anywhere.

Luxury items are bought by people who can afford, they mostly include rich people and tourists. But middle class income group also buy some luxury item, may be once in their life time, and India having a huge population of billions once a life time purchase also is big business. Malling has become more or less like a tourist activity so that people from far away villages visit them and naturally they spend some money there. They may enjoy a Mac burger and Coke, or go for a movie in multiplex. These are not at all a routine for most of the people here. There are Jewelery shops, Opticals, mobile shops...so people go there as well. In India, marriages are occasions when people, rich and the poor alike, purchase a lot of gold jewelery. Some buy diamonds and other types of precious stones.

They have tailored their business and arranged merchandise taking into consideration the mindset, likes and dislikes and affordability of Indian people. These are the reasons malls get lot of footfalls and brisk business in India.

Thanks a lot for the comment. Please visit here again and add comments. I feel happy writing replies like this because then I will be able to include more points. Thanks again and have a great week ahead !

Hi Rajiv, wow... that's a really beautiful shopping mall. I'll indulge in window shopping the whole day. LOL

The lake side apartment is really beautiful and very spectacular scenery. Like living in the resort. Love it. Thanks for sharing.

Best regards.

Hi Amelia, thanks for the comment.

As I have already written in the reply to Dwei's comment there are shops that are not that expensive. Some super luxury outlets are of course expensive where we can only window shop but the mall as such is an awesome place to spend time.

Thanks again ! Hope you had a great weekend.

Nice surroundings around the mall. Not many malls have the pleasure of beautiful landscapes.
